Properly placed and operational smoke alarms are vital to a habitational exposure. Smoke alarms should be replaced every ten years per the manufacturer. Every six months, the batteries should be replaced. Don’t forget, a monthly safety test of your smoke alarms should be conducted. ICC encourages our insureds to follow the standards and guidelines set by smoke alarm manufacturers and the NFPA.
Now, what are you waiting for? Go and check your smoke alarms to make sure they are properly placed and operational.
