Glass Breakage

With Wednesday Wisdom this week, we want to share an experience where we learned how dangerous stacking a cold glass could be. We all know glass is fragile and can break if not handled properly. Never stack your glasses, this can cause unwanted friction and stress that weakens the glass, leading to breakage. Never add ice to a hot glass as the temperature shock will increase the chances of cracking. When scooping ice, use a designated ice scoop, not a glass, as that could cause chips, cracks, or even a break, and broken glass in the ice bin could be left undetected, ending up in a customer’s drink and becoming a dangerous health matter. Cold glasses should be stored one row, one level, no stacking. See you next week as we learn more tips and tricks to keeping our patrons and employees safe!
