The Value of Alcohol Server Training

Do your clients know the importance of alcohol server training? It is recommended, and in some states required, for anyone who sells or serves alcohol or even checks IDs.

Those who work in the hospitality industry should know the state and local laws surrounding alcohol service, know they could be held personally responsible for breaking the law, and be prepared with best practices for serving alcohol. Alcohol server training can help with that.

A few states in ICC’s territory (Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan), currently require alcohol server training for those working in establishments that sell alcohol.

Required or not, this training is highly recommended for all employees, from the server to the bartender to the security personnel at the door.

A certified staff presents a team that is professional, ethical, and prepared to effectively manage situations that may arise from the consumption of alcohol. It is also the responsible thing to do for your community!

Illinois Casualty Company has partnered with Katkin to offer in-person, online, and live virtual alcohol training for our policyholders. A few of the topics covered in this training are:

  • the effects of alcohol on the body
  • how to recognize the signs of intoxication
  • how to prevent underage drinking
  • the local laws surrounding alcohol service
